It’s All There In Black and White
Whilst sitting in one of my favorite downtown Portland haunts, the Pearl Bakery, jotting down a few thoughts in my journal and enjoying one of their scrumptious gibassier pastries backed-up with a double cappuccino, I looked up and noticed printed upon the window a two word exhortation that might well be adopted as a maxim by which to live – “eat bread.” While few things could be more simple, almost obvious if you will, the sheer clarity and common-sense wisdom contained in this counsel moved me to draw my camera from my bag and record the image as it appeared to me both as an idea as well as an image.

Wonderful image! It got me to remembering…”It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone…”
Dear John, a beautiful image. I am not, however, completely convinced by your interpretation of it though.
I suppose when one looks at the logical details of the image you have created, it highlights the much of what we see in our daily lives. eat bread.
but what makes the image for me, has nothing to do with any of the details, but the beauty of the whole. something deeper. we could call this a system. or a metaphor for love. or God. man can, after all, not live on bread alone.
kind regards from the beautifully springy Alps,
