It can’t be easy to be a member of a group whose very name is spoken by so many with tones of suspicion and derision. I don’t suspect that having one’s faith also used as the fodder for comedians both professional and amateur alike is particularly pleasant either. Yes, I do realize why this happens, but it was so very few of their number who were actually responsible, that themselves committed the horrible actions that destroyed so many innocent lives. Yet we can’t possibly expect every single believer to answer for the sins of only a handful of men, can we? I think in time, most of us will come to realize that blaming all members of a religious group for the actions of a very few is simply wrong, but in the meantime, American Catholics will just have to hold on until the storm blows over.

Bet you thought I was referring to Moslems, didn’t you? I am actually, but I wanted to allow everyone to see how the anti-Islamic hysteria growing not only in Manhattan but all across the nation would look if its scapegoat was a group more familiar to most of us.
